Two Bodies Retrieved from Kampala, Wakiso Swamps
(Kampala) – Police recovered the body of Benon Kikawa, a teacher at Our Lady of Fatima in Nakulabye, floating in Lubigi Swamp on the morning of November 18, 2024. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire stated that the body was discovered at approximately 8:30 AM and later transported to the City Mortuary for post-mortem examination. The police have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play.Owoyesigyire provided this update during the weekly joint security briefing held at police headquarters in Naguru. He reassured the public that experts are working to uncover the details surrounding the teacher’s death.In a related incident, police also retrieved an unidentified body from Kasengenje Swamp in Wakiso District. The body bore visible injuries, but the cause of death has yet to be established. Owoyesigyire confirmed that forensic experts will determine whether the injuries resulted from murder or other causes.The police are urging the public to report missing persons and assist in identifying the second body recovered in Wakiso. They have also called for calm while investigations proceed.
