Heartbreaking Tragedy in Masaka: Woman Arrested Over Death of Teen Boyfriend at Beach Party

In a tragic incident in Masaka, a 34-year-old woman named Pamela Mutesi has been arrested following the death of her teenage boyfriend, 19-year-old Frank Akankwasa Jr. The details surrounding his death are worrying, as Mutesi is accused of luring him away from his family home to attend a beach party where he lost his life.

Mutesi and Akankwasa had been in a relationship for five years, even though Mutesi is married to another man. Grace Mbabazi, Akankwasa's mother, shared her deep concerns about their relationship. She said she had tried hard to end it and had even asked the local police for help, but felt that her pleas went unheard.

Mbabazi recounted how she once found Mutesi in her son’s room and confronted her. She explained that she had attacked Mutesi in anger, and that Mutesi warned her that one day she would cry the same tears that she had made her son shed.

Police reports suggested that Mutesi called Akankwasa several times, convincing him to join her at a beach party. According to Mbabazi, the group was sitting around a campfire when Akankwasa mysteriously wandered off and entered the lake. She recalled receiving alarming news that someone had disappeared in the water.

Mbabazi said that by the time they pulled Akankwasa out of the water, he was unresponsive. She mentioned that they tried everything to revive him and rushed him to hospital, but it was too late.

As investigators looked deeper into the case, a coroner's report revealed concerning evidence suggesting foul play. The report indicated that Akankwasa had injuries—including scratches around his neck—that raised suspicions about how he died.

Twaha Kasirye, spokesperson for Greater Masaka Police, announced that they were looking into all possibilities regarding what happened that night. He confirmed that alongside Mutesi, two other people—Mukasa Sserwanja and Sudhir Musinguzi—who were also at the party had been arrested to help with ongoing inquiries.
