Lubaga Hospital Now Confirms Ssegirinya Is Dead


After trying their very best to bring to life Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya the Kawempe North Legislator who has battled sickness for close to three years, Lubaga Hospital has now declared the passing on the MP.

News had spread in the morning that Ssegirinya had died but it was later revealed that he was brain dead, all his body organs had shut but had some little pulse in his veins. Only a miracle could bring him back to life.

Speaking to journalists and politicians who had gone to check on the patient, Dr. Sr Grace Nanyondo the Medical Director at Lubaga hospital said the patient needed love and prayers but they couldn’t declare him dead when he’s not.

In a statement, the management of Lubaga hospital has confirmed that Hon Ssegirinya has breathed his last at the facility. This has settled the dust surrounding his demise among his friends and family and his party the National Unity Platform.

‘Hon. Ssegirinya has been under the dedicated care of our medical team at Lubaga Hospital. Despite all efforts to ensure his recovery, he passed away today, Thursday, 9th January 2024 at 12:10 pm”- the statement reads in part.


This is the 6th legislator that the dark hand of death has grabbed from the 11th parliament in a space of just three years. In March 2022, speaker Oulanyah died of cancer, in December of the same year Serere MP Patrick Okabe perished in an accident. In 2023, Charles Engola was shot dead by his body guard. In January 2024, Cecilia Ogwal died from a hospital in India, in September 2024Sarah Mateke died from a heart attack.
