How Ssegirinya Sister Exposed Mpuuga’s Political Burial Plot as Family Stood Firm on Voters’ Wishes

The burial of the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya has become the center of a heated political battle.According to recent reports, Nyendo Mukungwe MP, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, allegedly planned to take control of the burial ceremony by organizing it at Butale grounds, a location he had personally prepared.

Many have criticized this move, seeing it as an attempt to turn the funeral into a political event.

Ssegirinya’s sister, who had cared for him in the Netherlands, strongly opposed Mpuuga's plan.

She said, "My brother loved his Kawempe North constituency deeply. He always put the people first.

As his family, we have decided to honor the wishes of the people, not some political agenda."

She stressed that the family had spoken to local supporters and decided that the burial would take place at Ssegirinya’s Masaka home, not at Mpuuga’s chosen venue.

The decision to honor Ssegirinya’s wishes was made after consultations with his loyal supporters in Kawempe North.

Many felt that the burial should remain a private and respectful event, away from any political interference.

"We are not going to let anyone hijack our brother’s burial to further their own political interests," said one of the family members.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that Mpuuga’s plans were supported by controversial figures such as Alien Skin and his Fangone group.

These individuals were reportedly hired to intimidate mourners and take control of the burial.

Despite the tension, leaders from the National Unity Platform (NUP), including Bobi Wine, continue to lead the proceedings, hoping to keep the focus on Ssegirinya’s legacy and the wishes of the people.

Ssegirinya’s supporters are adamant about ensuring that the late MP’s funeral remains a celebration of his life and not a platform for political gain
