Trouble for New KCCA Boss Sharifah Buzeki as Insiders Reveal What She's Going Through Now

New Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki faces a daunting challenge as she assumes office amid significant financial constraints.

Former Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Saad Uhuru has expressed concerns about Buzeki's ability to deliver without a functional budget, noting that her predecessors, Jennifer Musisi and Dorothy Kisaka, operated under vastly different circumstances.

“Musisi had all the privileges; she had a diamond on her plate. Kisaka had nothing, and now Sharifah has nothing too. Will it be the same story?” Uhuru questioned.

Musisi, who served as KCCA’s inaugural ED, had access to ample resources that allowed her to implement major infrastructure and service delivery projects. However, Kisaka’s tenure was marked by budgetary struggles, a problem Buzeki seems destined to inherit.

Uhuru urged President Yoweri Museveni to prioritize funding for the authority, emphasizing that Ugandans simply want improved service delivery.

Without adequate resources, he warned, Buzeki may struggle to address critical issues such as waste management, road infrastructure, and city planning.

Sharifah Buzeki, known for her administrative expertise, has yet to publicly address the financial constraints but faces growing pressure to deliver results under these difficult circumstances.

Insiders at City Hall describe a grim reality of unpaid contractors, stalled projects, and increasing public dissatisfaction.

This financial dilemma puts Buzeki in a precarious position. While she has the support of many stakeholders, her success depends on whether the central government is willing to allocate the resources KCCA needs to fulfill its mandate.
