Unexpected Outcome as PLE Results of Mother Who Gave Birth Hours Before Exam Emerges

Last November, a young mother in Uganda faced a challenge that many would find impossible—giving birth just hours before sitting for her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Despite the odds stacked against her, she has emerged victorious, proving that determination can conquer even the toughest of circumstances.
The PLE results released on Thursday revealed her extraordinary achievement. She scored a second grade with 24 aggregates, a remarkable performance that has brought pride to her and her community.
However, the news of her success reached her under heartbreaking circumstances. She was at St. Francis Hospital in Nkokonjeru, Buikwe District, caring for her two-month-old baby, who had been hospitalized with pneumonia. Despite this, her face lit up with pride when she heard the results.
"I didn’t think I could pass so well because, in Mock, I got grade three," she shared. Juggling pregnancy and studies had been a daunting task, but she never gave up. "Despite the challenges, I worked hard and prayed for the best," she added.
Her journey to success was anything but easy. After giving birth, she was transported daily from Butenga Health Centre IV to her exam center in a car provided by Bukomansimbi’s Deputy RDC, Fred Kalema Pax. While she sat for her papers, her newborn baby was cared for outside the exam room.
Now, her future dreams of becoming a doctor are uncertain due to financial difficulties. The young mother struggles to provide for her child, as the baby’s father abandoned her during the pregnancy.
"I want to become a doctor, but I don’t know if this will happen because I can’t afford school fees," she explained.
She appeals to kind-hearted individuals for help, hoping to continue her education and provide a better future for her baby.
