Kadaga Receives Warning, Told What Will Happen as Among Declares Bid to Oust Her from CEC Position
Rebecca Kadaga, the current NRM 2nd national vice chairperson, faces mounting pressure as political rivals prepare to challenge her position in the upcoming party elections. The development emerged during a rally at Kamuli youth center where President Museveni addressed supporters.
According to NRM party insiders, Speaker Anita Among has already declared her intention to contest for the same Central Executive Committee (CEC) position, signaling a potentially fierce political battle ahead. The move has created tension within the party ranks, particularly in Busoga sub-region.
Concerned youth leaders from Busoga have appealed to President Museveni to intervene and protect Kadaga's position. The Kamuli NRM youth chairman specifically urged the President to shield both Kadaga and Moses Kigongo from political competition.
"Your Excellence, we thank you for mentoring our two great leaders namely Rebecca Kadaga and Moses Kigongo. We are grateful for that and we hereby beg you to protect them to keep in those positions," the youth chairman stated during the rally.
The brewing political contest reminds many of the 2020 CEC elections when State Minister Parsis Namuganza unsuccessfully challenged Kadaga for the same position. This time, however, the challenge comes from Among, who succeeded Kadaga as Speaker of Parliament.
Some MPs have reportedly been moving around the region, claiming they have President Museveni's backing to oppose Kadaga. However, Museveni dismissed these claims during his address at Kamuli, affirming that he has no issues with Kadaga and describing her as his "good sister."
The situation has sparked debate within NRM party circles about leadership succession and internal party democracy. Local party officials in Busoga continue to rally behind Kadaga, viewing her position as crucial for regional representation in the party's top leadership structure.
