How the Wife of Major General Aronda Nyakairima Is Keeping His Legacy Alive After His Sudden Death

In September 2015, Uganda lost Major General Aronda Nyakairima, a well-known military leader and the country’s Minister of Internal Affairs.

His sudden death left a huge gap in the country and in the life of his wife, Linda Kahooza Nyakairima, and their two children, Samuel and Samantha.

Since then, Linda has faced many difficulties as she tries to move forward without her husband. She has focused on raising her children, keeping her family together, and dealing with some difficult land issues.

Linda and Aronda met in the 1990s when he was a Major in the Presidential Protection Unit. They got married in 1996 and had two children. Aronda’s job kept him away from home a lot, but they spent quality time together when he could.

After Aronda passed away, Linda worked hard to keep his memory alive. She has joined in memorial services and events that remember his life and work.

Linda often speaks about how dedicated Aronda was to his country and his family. She also talks about his message to young people about working hard to succeed in life.

One of the biggest problems Linda has had to deal with is a land dispute in Kyankwanzi District. In 2022, over 1,000 families were forced off land that Aronda had been involved with.

The families said Linda took the land unfairly. The evictions caused a lot of pain, as people lost their homes and crops.

To solve this problem, the government decided to give Linda 11 billion Ugandan shillings to help the families return to the land. Local leaders have asked for this process to happen quickly so the families can go back home.

Despite all these struggles, Linda has stayed strong. She continues to honor her husband’s memory and encourages others to follow his example of hard work. Even though life has been tough, Linda keeps going and focuses on the future.
