Drama As NUP Contestant Collapses After Being Denied Party Ticket

This afternoon there was drama at the National Unity Platform (NUP) offices at Makerere-Kavule when one of the 10 contenders of the party ticket Moses Nsereko collapsed after the party didn’t announce him and instead declared Counsel Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola to be it’s flag bearer in the forthcoming Kawempe North By-election set for next month.

Moses Nsereko who took part in the Saturday debate of the contenders brought to the audience comic sessions and depicted the true character of the late Muhammad Ssegirinya who was jolly but serious in whatever he did. Nsereko will answering the questions suggested that he couldn’t tolerate nonsense but instead beat the speaker up.

He had high hopes that the party will declare him as it’s flag bearer but instead opted for Nalukoola whom many political analysts said was the best fit for the party ticket. He collapsed and was helped by colleagues who came to his rescue. Nalukoola became the leading candidate followed by Umar Magala and Muhammed Luswa who was Ssegirinya’s aide came 3rd.

The declaration of Nalukoola leaves the other 9 candidates whether to rally behind the party candidate or stand as independent to face the other candidates in the race; Singer Sadati Mukiibi alias Kalifah Aganaga, Faridah Nambi the hand picked candidate of NRM, Hajjat Hanifah Karadi who is coming as independent after being denied the NRM ticket among others.

According to the Electoral Commission roadmap released by the Electoral Commission, candidates will be nominated on 26th and 27th this month and will campaign from 28th February to 11th March and elections will be held on the 13th of March 2025.
