Another CMI Spy Allegedly Arrested Inside NUP Headquarters

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has allegedly caught another suspected spy from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) inside its headquarters in Kavule. The suspect, identified as Akol John Stephen Omuron, a private by rank, was apprehended by NUP’s security team while secretly taking photos of vehicles belonging to party leaders. His focus on capturing registration number plates raised suspicion, leading to his immediate arrest.

Omuron’s arrest is the third time in two months that suspected CMI operatives have been caught trying to enter NUP offices. In December last year, two other suspected spies were also arrested while attempting to access the party canteen.

The repeated incidents have raised concerns about why security agencies are closely monitoring the opposition party. NUP leaders question why low-ranking officers are sent for such missions and what happens to them after they are handed over to the police.

For now, NUP remains on high alert, suspecting that security agencies are trying to gather information about the party’s internal activities. However, it is unclear what action authorities take against the arrested individuals once they are in police custody.
