JATT is a security apparatus like others, mandated to ensure the safety of citizens and their property. Its operations align with the collective goal of securing the country

While appearing on NBS Barometer , a political talk show, SSP Muhwezi emphasised that JATT functions within the broader security framework and should not be viewed differently from other agencies tasked with maintaining law and order.
“JATT is a security apparatus like others, mandated to ensure the safety of citizens and their property. Its operations align with the collective goal of securing the country,†he said.
JATT, a specialised unit under Uganda’s security structure, has often been associated with counter-terrorism efforts. However, SSP Muhwezi’s remarks come amid growing public interest in its operations and mandate.
While he did not delve into specific activities, he reiterated that all security organs, including JATT, work under established legal frameworks to safeguard national stability.
The clarification is expected to address concerns and speculations surrounding JATT’s role, reinforcing its position as part of Uganda’s security architecture.
