UPPA secures French support to strengthen parliamentary reporting

The Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA) has secured a partnership with the Government of France aimed at enhancing the capacity of parliamentary reporters.
During a breakfast meeting held at the French Embassy in Kampala, UPPA President Samuel Ibanda Mugabi and French Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Xavier Sticker, discussed key areas of cooperation.
The collaboration will focus on training UPPA members to improve parliamentary reporting, facilitating knowledge exchange, and strengthening the association’s role in informing Ugandans about legislative affairs.
“The partnership will empower UPPA members by enhancing their skills to effectively report on Parliament, exchanging best practices, fostering global connections, and amplifying UPPA’s impact,” Mugabi said.
Ambassador Sticker commended UPPA for its efforts in defending journalists’ rights in Uganda and pledged France’s support in providing training programs and impactful projects to benefit both journalists and their audiences.
