NFA Enforces President Museveni’s Directives and Hands 60 Hectares of Land to Inzuya Masaba
MBALE, Uganda – The acting executive director of the National Forestry Authority (NFA), Mr. Stuart Mawraguha, today, in the company of other NFA officials, handed over part of the NFA’s land to the Inzuymasaba leadership, following the guidance and directives of President Yoweri Museveni.
Mr. Mawraguha said the delay in handing over the land in question, which was directed in 2010, was due to infighting within the cultural institution, with everyone wanting to grab the land for their individual benefit. He stated that now that there is proper leadership with a gazetted cultural leader and a stable cabinet, the NFA is here to execute President Museveni’s directives.
The kick-off meeting to hand over the Mutoto cultural land was attended by the Inzuymasaba leadership, led by the Umukuka, His Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, the Prime Minister of Inzuymasaba, Rt. Hon. Charles Walimbwa Peke, and other ministers.
The Umukuka of the Bamasaba people outlined a number of uses for the allocated land, including the preservation of indigenous trees.
The Inzuymasaba spokesperson, Mr. Steven Masiga, said the team led by the NFA Director headed directly to the Mutoto cultural land after the preliminary meeting in Maluku. Mr. Masiga said the Inzuymasaba leadership will use the land for cultural purposes and other related activities, such as promoting tourism, constructing a palace, a museum, a modern airport, and more.
Mr. Masiga added that the NFA and the Inzuymasaba leadership met this morning in Maluku at the Inzuymasaba offices, with the Prime Minister of Inzuymasaba chairing the meeting in the presence of the Umukuka and other ministers.
The spokesperson said over 1,500 meters of land was handed over following boundary marking and demarcation, and more land will be added following due process, up to a total of 60 hectares.
