Traditional Karamoja School Gets New BOG

Nabilatuk – Performance at St. Kizito Lorengedwat Senior Secondary School, one of the oldest schools in Karamoja, is expected to improve following the election and appointment of a new Board of Governors (BOG).

St. Kizito Lorengedwat has been a standout school in the region, achieving commendable results despite not reaching the highest expectations. With the appointment of the new BOG, the school aims to double its efforts.

It’s noteworthy that this is one of the few schools where students have never resorted to property destruction, unlike other schools that have experienced student protests.

Speaking to this publication last week after the appointment of the new BOG chairman, Fr. Justine Samuel Losike, he pledged to protect the school’s integrity as a Catholic-founded institution.

He called for teamwork among teachers and parents to achieve better performance.

Mr. Luke Buwomono, the headteacher of the school, attributed the school’s success to regular meetings between the administration and students, which have been instrumental in preventing strikes.

“We have a positive and conducive environment among teachers, administration, parents, and students, where any student’s complaint is addressed promptly,” he said.

He noted that under the previous BOG, the school made significant progress, including securing external support to construct the first-ever stone classrooms and dormitories.

Mr. Raymond Korobe, the District Education Officer for Nabilatuk, commended the school headmaster and the outgoing BOG for improving the school’s infrastructure.

He also encouraged students to study hard to become role models for the country in the future.
