Liverpool star Mohamed Salah fires surprise injury message ahead of Arsenal clash
Latest Arsenal news with Mohamed Salah posting an injury message before his Liverpool side head to Emirates Stadium for a Premier League clash
Mohamed Salah has posted a Liverpool injury message ahead of the game against Arsenal on Sunday
Mohamed Salah is pushing hard to recover from injury as quickly as possible with Liverpool in action against Arsenal this weekend. The 31-year-old has missed the last few weeks of action due to the Africa Cup of Nations before an injury picked up while playing for Egypt earlier this month saw him return early.
After being withdrawn from Egypt's group-stage clash against Ghana, it was later announced he could be sidelined for up to 28 days. Rehabilitation from the injury was also set to be completed back at Liverpool with a chance for him to return with Egypt if they reached the final, however his nation were knocked out at the last-16 stage.
As a result, Salah and Liverpool can now focus on when he can return from the muscular issue, although Jurgen Klopp has been able to cope well without his star man. Liverpool have won five of their six games played without Salah while also scoring four goals in each of their Premier League fixtures over the last few weeks against Bournemouth and Chelsea.
With that in mind, Klopp may not feel forced to rush Salah back into the fold and his update ahead of Wednesday's game against Chelsea confirmed as such. “He’s not ready for this game [against Chelsea], not ready for the next game [against Arsenal]," he said. "So he’s injured. I’m not sure if there was a misunderstanding in the beginning. He’s injured and a muscle injury takes time.
“It could have been much worse, but he’s not available at the moment. He’s just doing his rehab." Given Klopp's comments, it would suggest that rehab is being done in the gym, however Salah has been captured training individually on the grass.
Liverpool initially posted photos of him outside at Melwood training ground but now Salah himself has shown the work he is doing as he eyes a potential early return. On Instagram, Salah posted two stories of him jogging across a pitch without interruption which could suggest a return to team training is close.
Being back to face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday still remains highly unlikely, however a return against either Burnley or Brentford later in the month would certainly be a feasible return date. If Liverpool can match their FA Cup result against Arsenal from earlier this year, an eight-point gap could open up between the two teams with Manchester City still five points behind the league leaders, although they do have a game in hand.
