Arne Slot would have signed Feyenoord player for Liverpool if he was just a little bit younger
Liverpool refrained from splashing the cash in the summer transfer window as Arne Slot opted to stick to his guns and trust the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
Federico Chiesa was the only player who walked through the door at Anfield, although a deal in principle was agreed with Valencia to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer of 2025.
The upcoming transfer windows, however, could prove to be different as Slot aims to fine-tune his squad.
And now, a Dutch journalist has suggested the Dutchman passed on signing one of his former players from Feyenoord due to his age.

After Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Anfield, Liverpool signed Chiesa for a cut-price fee and shut up, which was a massive show of faith to the current crop.
And it’s safe to say they have repaid his faith in some style as they lead the way in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
However, in the summer transfer window, Feyenoord defender David Hancko was linked with a move to Liverpool, with the Slovakian valued at £30m.
Hancko earlier admitted that it was his dream to join Liverpool, and if reports are to be believed, he could have fulfilled his wish if he was a little younger.
Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan has made an interesting transfer revelation on the Feyenoord defender, who continues to attract interest from a host of clubs in Europe.
“If he had not been 27, Arne Slot would probably have taken him to Liverpool,” said Van der Kraan via Soccer News.
“The Slovakian is doing so well internationally and so many scouts have been coming to watch him for months now, that it is highly unlikely that he will still be seen in De Kuip after this season.
“But only for the price that Feyenoord wants, which will be over thirty million.”
Liverpool could have done well with a defender in the summer
On paper, the Reds have two players each for each of the full-back spots and four senior central defenders.
However, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being linked with a move to Real Madrid and Andy Robertson struggling a bit this season, their rearguard needs a bit of work in the upcoming transfer windows.
Additionally, the likes of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate are injury-prone, while Jarell Quansah hasn’t covered himself in too much glory under Slot so far.
A move for Hancko in the summer could have added more defensive cover as the Slovakian is capable of playing at the heart of the backline and left-back.
However, Slot reportedly decided against it and to be fair to the Dutchman, he hasn’t done much wrong since taking over the reigns at Anfield
