In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at bolstering HIV response efforts, the Initiative for Better Health (IBH) launched its ambitious campaign to raise Shs1 billion with a symbolic starting point of just Shs1,000.

Held at Piato Restaurant in Kampala, the launch event brought together key stakeholders, including musicians, civil society, development partners, and members of the media, marking the start of a spirited new movement.

Adding star power and cultural resonance to the cause, celebrated Ugandan musician Omega 256 was unveiled as the campaign’s ambassador.

With her strong following among the youth and her track record of advocacy, Omega 256 pledged to mobilize fellow artists and young people to rally behind this critical mission.

Speaking to attendees, she declared, "This is our time to stand together as one voice. We can all make a difference, no matter how small our contributions may seem."

The campaign has already garnered support from various sectors, including the Uganda AIDS Commission.

The campaign was officially endorsed by the Director General, Uganda AIDS Commission, Dr. Nelson Musoba, and represented at the launch by the Director of Partnerships, Mr Tom Etii.

Emphasizing the importance of community-driven responses, Mr. Etii said, "This is a visionary step toward building a future with fewer HIV infections. I urge every Ugandan to own the campaign and give generously."

Executive Director of IBH, John Aturinde Kateba, reiterated the grassroots ethos of the campaign in his keynote speech, stating, "You don’t need to be wealthy to give. You don’t need a title to lead. And you don’t have to be many to start something meaningful. This campaign is a symbol of unity, resilience, and hope.”

The initiative aims to amplify HIV prevention and treatment efforts through innovative community-driven approaches.

Highlights include hands-on skills training in photography, fashion, filmmaking, and other vocational pursuits to empower vulnerable youth.

Additionally, the campaign will support school-based HIV clubs and youth-led awareness programs while targeting high-risk communities with outreach efforts.

As the event unfolded, the air was filled with a hopeful spirit.

"This is more than fundraising; it’s about inspiring every citizen to rise collectively," noted one guest, applauding the campaign's call to action: "One coin, one voice, one heart at a time."

With the official account name Initiative for Better Health, the campaign implores Ugandans from all walks of life to contribute to creating a resilient and healthier society.

Omega 256 and IBH are committed to working tirelessly to ensure this dream becomes a reality.

IBH is among the initiatives that have suffered financial difficulties since the USAID cut-off by the current president of the United States, Donald Trump.

The launch serves as a heartfelt reminder that when a nation comes together, even the most ambitious goals are within reach.
