Experts Urge Mothers to Prioritise Health, Family Welfare

The Chairperson of the Uganda AIDS Commission Board, Dr. Ruth Ssenyonyi, has called on mothers across the country to take an active role in protecting their families against life-threatening diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and cancer.
Speaking at the Mothers’ Union and Church Women Fellowship (CWF) Conference held in Namugongo, Dr. Ssenyonyi emphasised the central role mothers play in safeguarding both their own lives and those of their families.
“Mothers, you are the heart of the family. Your health, your wisdom, and your guidance shape the future of your children and communities,” she said.
She urged mothers to prioritise regular medical check-ups, ensure their children stay in school, and speak openly to them about the risks of preventable diseases.
Dr. Ssenyonyi’s message comes at a time when public health officials continue to stress the importance of early detection and prevention in combating Uganda’s high burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
