Uganda Cranes Fail Cameroon Test

Cameroon 3-0 Uganda
Uganda Cranes endured a tough night in Marrakech, falling 3-0 to a dominant Cameroon side in an international friendly played on Friday at the Stadium de Marrakech Annexe Pitch.
The Cameroonians controlled proceedings from start to finish, with goals from Flavien Enzo Boyomo, Jean Florent Batoum, and Patrick Soko sealing a convincing victory.
Cameroon started brightly, and their persistence paid off in the 34th minute when Osasuna defender Flavien Enzo Boyomo headed home from a well-delivered free kick to give the Indomitable Lions a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Uganda goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi made a crucial save in the first half to keep the deficit to one, while Rogers Mato and Kenneth Ssemakula created Uganda’s best chances — only to be denied by Cameroon’s excellent shot-stopper Simon Omossola.
After the break, Cameroon maintained their momentum. Just three minutes into the second half, Jean Florent Batoum capitalized on an error from Alionzi, heading in from a corner after the Ugandan keeper misjudged the flight of the ball to make it 2-0.
In the 69th minute, Patrick Soko added a third with a composed finish inside the box, putting the result beyond doubt.
Patrick Jonah Kakande, who replaced Rogers Mato early in the second half, injected pace and flair into Uganda’s attack, but the Cranes were unable to find a consolation goal.
Despite the defeat, Elvis Bwomono, who was deployed in central defense rather than his usual right-back role, delivered an impressive individual performance and was arguably Uganda’s standout player on the night.
With this result behind them, Paul Put’s Uganda Cranes will now turn their attention to their next international friendly against Gambia, scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025.
