Nyanzi Goes Rogue As She Slams Both Bobi Wine And Museveni, Calls For A New Revolution

Exiled Ugandan academic and political activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi has publicly distanced herself from both President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Nyanzi’s recent criticism of Bobi Wine sparked questions about her political allegiance. However, she has clarified that she aligns with neither the ruling party nor any mainstream opposition group led by Kyagulanyi.
“I am a Muganda of the Buffalo clan. I am a public intellectual. I am a revolutionary freedom fighter of Nkoba z’Ambogo hue,” she stated.
“I belong to neither dictator Yoweri Kaguta Museveni nor to impostor Bobi Wine and his anti-intellectualism. I unashamedly belong to Uganda’s third force.”
While Nyanzi did not offer a detailed explanation of what the "third force" entails, many believe she could be referencing the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) led by long-time opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye, with whom she has previously shown ideological alignment.
Besigye is currently on remand at Luzira Upper Maximum Prison, further intensifying political tensions.
Nyanzi has often voiced support for Besigye’s style of activism, frequently citing him as the only Ugandan political leader she fully respects. Her latest remarks highlight the growing fragmentation within Uganda’s opposition movement.
Political analysts and citizens alike continue to question why opposition groups appear more divided among themselves than united against the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) regime.
As the country moves closer to the 2026 general elections, observers warn that infighting within the opposition could undermine efforts to bring about meaningful political change.
