President Yoweri Museveni was shocked when people in Rubaga South publicly rejected their Member of Parliament during his visit on July 13, 2025.The crowd loudly called their MP “useless” and demanded change.

This happened during a community meeting in Rubaga South, a division in Kampala, Uganda.

President Museveni had asked the crowd a simple question: “Who is your MP?” To his surprise, many shouted they did not know him, while others expressed anger over his performance.

The MP in question is Aloysius Mukasa TG, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP). He has been serving in the 11th Parliament since 2021.

Mukasa is also a known supporter of the People Power movement led by Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.

Instead of showing anger, Museveni responded with a smile and said, “Indeed, no wonder even your road is very bad and no one says anything.”

His comment caused laughter among the people, but it also pointed to a serious issue—poor service delivery.

The exchange was first shared by Nelson Bwire Kapo, a former State House editor now working as a digital journalist. He posted the video on X (formerly Twitter), where it quickly gained attention.

Many Ugandans online reacted by questioning whether their elected leaders are doing enough for their communities.

Some blamed Mukasa for failing to fix basic problems like poor roads and poor communication with the people.

“I have never seen him since we voted,” said one Rubaga resident who was present at the event.

“We feel abandoned.”

According to political analysts, this public embarrassment shows the growing frustration in urban areas, where many voters feel left behind despite electing leaders from the opposition.

It also shows Museveni’s continued interest in speaking directly to citizens.

Rubaga South is one of the areas where opposition parties gained strong support in the 2021 elections.

However, some residents now feel disappointed by what they see as broken promises.

The event ended peacefully, but the message from Rubaga was clear: people want leaders who listen, show up, and deliver results. Whether this will lead to political change in 2026 remains to be seen
