Turkish TV channel TRT Spor has apologised after accidentally broadcasting a woman inadvertently flashing her chest during the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League match between Turkey and the USA. The channel regretted the incident and promised to implement measures to prevent future mishaps.

The blunder occurred when a female fan, clad in red and wrapped in a Turkish flag, was caught up in the excitement of Turkey's 3-2 victory. As she jumped for joy, her flag slipped, covering her head and face, but as the cameras zoomed in on the jubilant crowd, they captured the moment her chest was exposed, replaying it in slow motion.

TRT Spor apologized for the unintentional exposure during the live game after the accidental broadcast. In a statement released the next day, TRT Spor pointed fingers at the American broadcasters for the NSFW footage. The incident sparked outrage among Turkey's largely Muslim community, which makes up 99 per cent of the population, according to the U.S. Department of State.

"Last night, an unwanted image appeared on the screens during the live broadcast of our National Women's Volleyball Team's 8th match against the host USA in the FIVB Nations League [VNL]. This disturbing situation has been associated with our Institution in different media and with a wrong perception," the translated press release from TRT Spor stated.

"We would like the public to know that the shooting and direction of the match was carried out by the host US broadcaster. TRT Spor and all broadcasting channels broadcasting the match reflected the instant images transmitted by the US broadcaster on the screen without the possibility of intervention."

"Therefore, this image, which is completely contrary to our publication policy, originates from the US broadcaster, and the discomfort felt by this situation has been conveyed to the other party. In its capacity and responsibility as Turkey's public broadcaster, TRT will continue to be a strong supporter of Turkish sports," they continued.

"On this occasion, we wish the "Sultans of the Net" great success in the matches against Thailand, the Dominican Republic, China, and Brazil. The match will be played in Hong Kong between 11-16 June and will be broadcast live on TRT. We announce it to the public with respect."

Islamic law, specifically Sunni teachings, mandates that non-married women cover their hair and the entire body, except for the face and hands, in the presence of men who are not close family members. Additional reports from Turkish media suggest that the unidentified woman received threats from religious extremists who sought out her identity online, forcing her to delete and suspend all of her social media accounts and activity
