Katakwi: Ongorok Donates 5 Million Shillings to Support God’s Work in Usuk County
In a demonstration of his commitment to the spiritual development of the community in Usuk County, Katakwi District, Mr. Richard Ongorok, a constituency aspirant, has generously contributed 120 bags of cement worth 3.8 million shillings to 12 churches in Ongongoja Sub-County.
This gesture took place at St. Peter’s-Cleaver Church in Ongongoja, where Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Eciru Oliach, the Bishop for Soroti Catholic Diocese, presided over the jubilant confirmation of 523 children and the sanctified matrimony of 28 couples.
Ongorok, through his representative, Ojaman Simon Peter, an adviser to his highness Paul Sande Emolot-Etomeileng and the ICU cultural leader, emphasized the importance of valuing leaders who bring development to the community.
Ongorok also recognized the valuable work of the choir and catechists in serving the community and injected 1.5 million shillings to support their efforts.
With his slogan “LOLO LO MOVEMENT,” Ongorok stated that he is the foundation for a brighter future for the people and promised to reach all areas surrounding Usuk County, both in good times and bad.
Bishop Eciru praised Richard Ongorok’s selfless act and encouraged Christians to support leaders who genuinely care for their well-being, rather than waiting until election season.
The Bishop’s words resonated deeply with the congregation, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Richard Ongorok’s kindness.
Dr. Joseph Eciru Oliach also urged priests operating in Katakwi District to hold special prayers at Abela Parish in Getom Sub-County, where a tragic accident occurred along the Soroti-Moroto road.
