Kisanja of No Sleep: Museveni Calls Ugandans to Action in New Term
President Yoweri Museveni has urged Ugandans to embrace urgency and hard work in his new term, warning against complacency and calling for collective effort to drive national transformation.
At a ceremony marked by symbolism, patriotism, and renewed political commitment, President Museveni used his swearing-in address at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to call on Ugandans to enter what he described as a “Kisanja of No Sleep.”
Museveni said the new term of leadership should not be viewed as a routine political cycle, but as a period demanding heightened productivity, vigilance, and shared responsibility in building the country.
“This Kisanja should be regarded as a Kisanja of no more sleep for all Ugandans,” he said, stressing the need for active participation in Uganda’s social and economic transformation.
He explained that “Kisanja,” a term commonly used to refer to a leadership term, should reflect urgency and results rather than comfort or complacency.
According to the President, the coming years require renewed focus from both leaders and citizens if Uganda is to achieve its development goals.
Museveni also used the occasion to commend political parties that participated peacefully in the electoral process. He specifically recognized the Democratic Party (DP) and the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) for what he described as non-violent engagement during the elections.
However, he criticized some elements within the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), accusing them of engaging in or promoting violence during the electoral period.
He further challenged political actors under the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) to establish clearer frameworks for managing electoral conduct in line with Uganda’s Constitution and existing electoral laws.
Across the country, the President’s message was interpreted as both a call to hope and a demand for greater discipline and sacrifice, signaling an administration focused on accelerating development and strengthening national unity.
