Frank Gashumba Hails Museveni’s swearing in, Appiciates Abavandimwe for nationwide support

The Chairperson of the Council for Abavandimwe, Frank Gashumba, has congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni upon his recent swearing in as President of the Republic of Uganda for the 2026–2031 term.

In his message, Gashumba described the swearing in ceremony held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds as an important national occasion that reflected Uganda’s continued commitment to stability, patriotism, and constitutional governance.

Speaking on behalf of the Council for Abavandimwe, Gashumba expressed gratitude to President Museveni for his directive on citizenship verification, saying the intervention restored hope to many Ugandans who had for years faced challenges obtaining national identity documents and accessing essential government services.

According to Gashumba, the directive demonstrated the President’s willingness to listen to concerns raised by communities and ensure that legitimate citizens are treated fairly during verification exercises.

He noted that many members of the Abavandimwe community across the country welcomed the directive as a sign of inclusiveness, fairness, and national unity.

Gashumba also took the opportunity to appreciate Bavandimwe from different parts of Uganda for their active participation during the recent campaigns, voting process, and attendance at President Museveni’s swearing in ceremony at Kololo.

He praised the community for what he described as discipline, unity, and patriotism throughout the electoral period, adding that their peaceful participation reflected a strong commitment to national development and democratic processes.

“We remain grateful to all Bavandimwe across the country who stood together during the campaigns, participated in the elections, and turned up in large numbers at Kololo to witness the swearing in of President Museveni,” Gashumba said.

He further emphasized that the Council for Abavandimwe remains committed to promoting peaceful coexistence, constructive engagement, and support for initiatives aimed at strengthening unity and equal opportunity for all Ugandans.

The issue of citizenship verification continues to attract national attention, particularly among communities that have previously cited delays and complications in accessing official documentation.

Government maintains that the verification process is intended to protect the credibility of Uganda’s citizenship and national identification systems while ensuring fairness and transparency for genuine citizens. URN
