Refugee arrivals raise concern among medical workers amid Ebola outbreak
The leaders in West Nile have called for the need to strengthen risk communication and surveillance systems and teams along the border lines. This is as the national cumulative Ebola infections hit 19 and 2 deaths, with DR Congo, where the case was first reported, registering hundreds of cases. Security officials in the area say that, much as the border has been closed for non-essential travellers, over 3,000 refugees, including 40 natives of DR Congo, have crossed through Arua, which is posing a challenge to frontline health workers and security operatives who are supposed to control the spread of the disease.
