Police at Kakiri have arrested four suspects and recovered three suspected stolen motorcycles following a successful operation conducted in Kisenyi Cell, Kakiri Town Council, Wakiso District. The operation, which took place on June 5, 2026, is part of ongoing efforts by the police to crack down on motorcycle theft and related crimes in the area.

The four suspects have been identified as Bukeera Sharif, Kakande George, Lukyamuzi Kenneth, and Labuchi Catherine. They were arrested after police received information that led officers to a location where suspected stolen motorcycles and motorcycle spare parts were being kept. The operation resulted in the recovery of three motorcycles believed to have been stolen from different areas.

Among the recovered motorcycles are Bajaj Boxer motorcycles bearing registration numbers UES 160N and UEJ 419G. Police also recovered another Bajaj Boxer motorcycle that had no registration number. In addition to the motorcycles, officers seized assorted motorcycle spare parts suspected to have been removed from stolen motorcycles.

The recovery has been welcomed by members of the community, many of whom have expressed concern over the increasing cases of motorcycle theft. Motorcycles are a major source of income for many riders and transport operators, making such thefts a serious challenge for affected families and businesses.

Police have since registered a case of possession of suspected stolen property and launched investigations to establish the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles and spare parts. Detectives are also working to determine whether the suspects are connected to a wider network involved in motorcycle theft and the illegal sale of motorcycle parts.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public who may have recently lost motorcycles to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that could assist in identifying the recovered exhibits. Police believe that further investigations may lead to the recovery of more stolen property and the arrest of additional suspects.

Speaking on the matter, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of the suspected stolen motorcycles. He emphasized that police operations against criminal activities will continue and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
