Kill Me If You Want, But I Won’t Keep Quiet” — Bishop Bukomeko Defies Pressure, Speaks Out on Lukwago Arrest

Mityana Diocese Bishop Dr. James Bukomeko has emerged as one of the strongest religious voices to publicly challenge the circumstances surrounding the arrest and detention of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, declaring that he will not be intimidated into silence despite growing political tensions.

The outspoken cleric's remarks have added momentum to an increasingly heated national debate over justice, human rights, and the treatment of opposition figures in Uganda.

Speaking passionately about the matter, Bishop Bukomeko expressed concern over reports surrounding Lukwago's arrest, warning that the country risks returning to an era characterized by fear, intimidation, and suppression of dissenting voices.

"I will not be silenced," the Bishop emphasized, insisting that religious leadershave a responsibility to speak whenever they witness actions they believe undermine justice and human dignity.
