Riot police have been deployed to northwest London following Morocco's elimination from the World Cup.

Both during and after the match, large crowds congregated on Edgware Road, prompting emergency services to rush to the area.

Footage circulating across social media platforms captures violent confrontations breaking out between supporters and officers policing the street.

Videos filmed at half-time show fireworks and flares being set off as fans perched on barriers while waving flags. Large numbers of people were seen sprinting through the streets as the explosives were ignited.

Further clips reveal the crowds causing severe traffic disruption, bringing vehicles to a complete standstill.

The most recent footage shows rows of Metropolitan Police officers lining the road, clad in riot gear and carrying shields, as they worked to disperse the sizeable gatherings.

In one clip shared on social media, an officer can be seen on the ground while fellow emergency service workers rush to assist them.

It has since been confirmed that the officer sustained injuries, and a number of arrests have been made in connection with the disorder.

Metropolitan Police has been approached for further comment.
