I Left My Media Career to Join Politics – NUP's Robert Maseruka

Mukono South MP Robert Maseruka has opened up about his early career in the media, revealing that he left his job as a television news anchor to pursue politics.

Speaking during an interview with a local television station, the National Unity Platform (NUP) legislator explained that while studying journalism at Makerere University, he landed a job as a news anchor at Ndejje University Television.

Maseruka said he worked at the station for about six months before politics came calling. He eventually resigned to contest for the position of Guild President at Makerere University, a decision he says changed the course of his life.

"I studied journalism at Makerere University, and I have worked in the media before. I anchored the news on Ndejje University Television and was there for almost six months. However, I quit and contested for the position of Guild President at the university, and I have never looked back," he explained.

Although he still has a passion for journalism, Maseruka said he is currently focused on serving the people of Mukono South as their Member of Parliament.

He added that he may consider returning to the media industry in the future.
