Police in Kanungu District have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified only as Isaac, a resident of Kigando Cell, Kiringa Parish, Kambuga Sub-county, in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy.
According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, the incident occurred on July 13, 2026, at Kigando Trading Centre. Residents became concerned after noticing a strong, unusual smell coming from one of the rented rooms in the area.
After forcing the door open, they discovered the decomposing body of Abindaryamu Deus, a 14-year-old boy, inside the room.

The Kigezi Regional Police have appealed to residents of Kambuga and the surrounding areas to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.
“We urge members of the public to remain calm and work closely with the police by sharing any information that may help in apprehending the suspect so that justice can take its course,” SP Nelson Tumushime said.
