NMG Fires Back: “Daily Monitor Has Never Fabricated Fake News Against Museveni’s Government”
Nation Media Group (NMG) has strongly defended the credibility of the Daily Monitor, rejecting allegations that the newspaper publishes false stories against President Museveni’s government.
The media company said every story published by Daily Monitor is based on evidence, including official documents, records, interviews, court filings, or credible sources.
“Every story that the Daily Monitor does, they have a basis for it; either a primary document or someone they are quoting. They don’t create things,” a senior NMG official said.
NMG maintained that its journalists follow professional standards of verification and editorial review, arguing that accountability reporting should not be mistaken for hostility toward government.
The statement comes amid ongoing debate surrounding the closure of Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda, with NMG insisting that its platforms remain committed to factual and responsible journalism.
