WAKISO – Police have launched investigations into an aggravated robbery after a businessman was shot and several customers robbed during a violent attack at a bar in Nangabo Sub-county, Wakiso District.
The victim, Ambrose Akampurira, manager of Rafiki Gardens, sustained a bullet wound to his right thigh after three armed men, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, stormed the premises and opened fire before fleeing with stolen property.
The incident occurred on July 14, 2026, at Rafiki Gardens in Kiti A Cell, where the attackers also robbed customers of their mobile phones and other valuables.
According to police, the assailants, who were travelling in a white Toyota Wish, first intercepted a beer delivery truck belonging to CK Distributing Company as it arrived at the bar to make a delivery.
The truck driver, Abudfala Musinguzi, 56, a resident of Bwaise in Kawempe Division, was allegedly struck on the head with the butt of a gun after the attackers ordered him and his colleagues to surrender their belongings.
The suspects then entered the bar, where they shot Akampurira in the thigh before stealing mobile phones and other personal items from customers.
Akampurira was rushed to Reborn Hospital in Kiti for emergency treatment before being referred to Bombo Army Hospital, where he is receiving further medical care.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the attackers had allegedly trailed the beer delivery truck from Kitezi before executing the robbery at Rafiki Gardens.
Police have also launched investigations into the registration number, UBP 132M, which was reportedly displayed on the suspects’ vehicle, to establish whether it was genuine or cloned.
A case of aggravated robbery has been registered at Matugga Police Station under CRB 600/2026.
A team of detectives, scene-of-crime officers and other police personnel visited the scene, documented evidence and recovered several exhibits to aid ongoing investigations.
Police have also recorded statements from witnesses as efforts continue to identify and arrest the suspects.
