The Hoima Central Police Station (CPS) has called for public attention, as stolen and recovered properties have remained in their possession for more than six months.
The notice comes at a time when victims are unbothered to claim their properties.
Ngonzi Trasila, Community Liaison Officer (CLO) at Hoima Central Police, said, “Currently, there are close to one hundred unclaimed motorcycles, cars, television sets, subwoofers, among other items kept at the police station with no individuals claiming ownership.”
She noted that the above items got into their possession during different police operations.
Ngonzi called on the concerned individuals and organisations to take responsibility and claim their properties before police issue a sales notice.
“For whoever knows if anything is confiscated at Hoima Central Police Station, better follow up as early as possible. Soon, we are to release the official auction date for any property that has stayed here [at police] for more than six months,” she told tndNews, Uganda.
Ngonzi also disclosed that they have registered over 200 theft-related cases this year, with 18 burglaries, urging the public to remain security vigilant on their homes.
In May 2026, Hoima CPS issued a notice to the public seeking responses to claim ownership of impounded automobiles, including cars and motorcycles.
Hoima CPS had about 70 motorcycles without claimed ownership by May, according to Albertine Regional Police PRO, SP Julius Allan Hakiza.
