Robert Maseruka dismisses rumours of a romantic relationship with NUP politician Shamim Nambassa, insisting they are close friends and nothing more.
Mukono South MP Robert Maseruka has dismissed persistent rumours linking him romantically to Kawempe South Councillor Shamim Nambassa.
For months, speculation has circulated on social media alleging that the two National Unity Platform (NUP) politicians were in a romantic relationship. The rumours were fueled by their close friendship, which dates back to their time at Makerere University, where they both served as Guild Presidents.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Maseruka denied the allegations, insisting that his relationship with Nambassa is purely platonic.
According to the legislator, the two share a strong friendship and many common interests, but there has never been any romantic involvement between them.
"I am just friends with Shamim Nambassa. We share a lot in common, but our relationship is not romantic as alleged. We are simply friends," he partly explained.
Maseruka added that he regards Nambassa as a sister, dismissing the rumours as baseless speculation.
