BREAKING! Kayunga District Service Commission Members Arrested over Sale of Jobs
Members of Kayunga District Service Commission have been arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit over allegations of selling government jobs.
The arrest was announced by the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi in the evening of Sunday, 19th July, 2026.
“I commend the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and all security agencies for their decisive action in arresting members of the Kayunga District Service Commission over allegations of selling government jobs,” the Minister wrote on his X-Handle.
He says that it is estimated that fake jobs worth approximately Shs840 million were sold through the Commission Secretary.

“For the past two weeks, many members of the public have been calling and providing valuable information. Several individuals have already recorded statements as investigations continue,” says Balaam.
The Minister argues that selling public jobs is a betrayal of the people because it denies qualified Ugandans equal opportunities, undermines merit, and compromises service delivery, as those who buy positions often prioritize recovering their money instead of serving the public.
“This should serve as a clear warning to all public officers: corruption will not be tolerated. We are committed to ensuring that District Service Commissions operate with integrity, transparency, and fairness,” he says.
He also encourages all Ugandans to continue reporting corruption by contacting the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) directly by calling their toll-free line at 0800202500.
By the time of filing this story, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) had not given an official statement.
