Hajjat Namyalo flags off ONC Coordinators for LC1, Women Council elections

Namyalo disclosed that while the NRM Secretariat received Shs50 billion to facilitate party activities, the Office of the National Chairman was not included in the allocation despite earlier guidance from President Museveni that it should receive funding.

Kampala, Uganda:— The Senior Presidential Adviser and Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has flagged off district and regional coordinators to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of LC1 and Women Council elections assuring them that budget constraints will not derail the office’s mission.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held in Kyambogo on Monday, Namyalo said the ONC remains committed to mobilising Ugandans behind the ruling party and monitoring the implementation of government programmes despite operating with limited financial resources.

Namyalo disclosed that while the NRM Secretariat received Shs50 billion to facilitate party activities, the Office of the National Chairman was not included in the allocation despite earlier guidance from President Museveni that it should receive funding.

She said she later raised the matter with the National Chairman, who informed her that the allocated funds had already been committed. According to Namyalo, President Museveni subsequently agreed to provide the ONC with an additional but limited budget to support its operations.

“I thank the President for always being a father to all of us. Even in difficult circumstances, he listened and found a way to support our work,” Namyalo said.

She expressed gratitude to President Museveni for what she described as his fatherly leadership and commitment to supporting all organs of the NRM.

Focus on Grassroots Mobilisation

Despite the financial challenges, Namyalo said the ONC would continue executing its core mandate of mobilising Ugandans in support of the NRM and monitoring the implementation of government programmes across the country.

She urged coordinators to prioritise ideological orientation over internal competition, saying the office exists to strengthen the movement by promoting the party’s values and ensuring government programmes are effectively implemented at the grassroots.

According to Namyalo, the ONC’s responsibilities include monitoring party chairperson elections, overseeing the implementation of government programmes and submitting reports to the National Chairman for guidance and action.

She called on the coordinators to work diligently to secure victory for NRM candidates in the forthcoming LC1 elections, saying strong village leadership is essential to the party’s continued success.

Namyalo also stressed the importance of accountability in managing government resources, noting that effective monitoring helps ensure public programmes benefit ordinary Ugandans.

Reflecting on her leadership journey, she said she had become accustomed to political obstacles and sabotage but remained committed to serving President Museveni and advancing the NRM’s objectives.

She added that although she has aspirations for greater responsibilities in the future, her immediate focus remains delivering on her current assignment.

Namyalo concluded by urging ONC coordinators to remain united, disciplined and focused as they embark on nationwide mobilisation ahead of the village-level elections.
