Kibuku, Uganda: Police in Kibuku District have launched investigations into the suspected mob killing of a 43-year-old man whose body was discovered in Nasyono Village, Sala Parish, Kirika Sub-county on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Hakim, was son of the late Aramadhan, and resident of Nampiido Village, Nampiido Parish, Nabiswa Sub-county in Kibuku District.

According to Bukedi North Regional Police spokesperson ASP Kyempasa Wilfred, the case has been registered at Kirika Police Station under CRB 055/2026 as suspected murder by mob.

Police said the incident was reported at about 8:40 a.m. on July 20, 2026, after the Officer in Charge of Kirika Police Station, Station Sergeant Aujo Jennipher, received a telephone call from AIP Namusana Rebecca, the Officer in Charge of Kadama Police Station, informing her that the body of an adult male had been found in Nasyono Village.

Science

A team comprising detectives, Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and uniformed officers visited and documented the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was found lying face down, half-naked, with blood oozing from the mouth and nose. Police also observed deep cuts on the head and left leg. His black trousers had been tied around his legs, while a yellow shirt was tied around his waist.

Police deployed a police canine to assist with investigations, but it did not yield any leads because the body was found only a few metres from the roadside.

Investigators recorded witness statements and recovered several exhibits for forensic examination.

The body was taken to Kibuku Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination using Police Forms 48 and 48B.

According to ASP Kyempasa, preliminary information gathered from the community indicates that the deceased had allegedly previously been accused of theft and had reportedly been assaulted by mobs over similar allegations.

Police also established that several months earlier, residents allegedly demolished his home and chased his family from Nampiido Village following the accusations.

However, police emphasised that these allegations remain part of the ongoing investigation and do not justify acts of mob justice.

No suspects had been identified or arrested by the time of filing the report, but ASP Kyempasa said investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and bring those responsible to justice.
