Can’t Save Her Now” – Gen. Salim Saleh Reportedly Distances Himself From Anita Among Amid Mounting Troubles
Former Speaker Anita Among has reportedly failed to secure the backing of Gen. Salim Saleh, President Museveni’s younger brother, as she faces growing political and legal challenges.According to reports, a delegation of leaders from the Teso sub-region met Saleh in Kapeeka and appealed to him to intervene on Among’s behalf. However, Saleh reportedly said the issues surrounding her were beyond his control and that there was little he could do to help.
Despite describing Among as a close friend who often brought him gifts and treated him generously, Saleh is said to have acknowledged that friendship could not shield her from accountability. He reportedly noted that her troubles extend beyond corruption allegations and include political disagreements that have strained relations with influential figures.
Saleh allegedly advised her supporters to pray for her and ensure she receives strong legal representation, stressing that the legal process should be allowed to take its course. He reportedly added that even powerful leaders and close allies are not immune from the consequences of their actions. The remarks have fueled fresh debate about political loyalty, accountability, and the future of one of Uganda’s most prominent political figures.
