Kyabugashe Christians Gift Archdeacon New Vehicle After Accident

Christians of Kyabugashe Archdeaconry were filled with joy and gratitude this morning after welcoming a new vehicle for their Archdeacon, Ven. Amos Katushabe, which is set to replace the one that was involved in an accident and damaged beyond repair in May 2026.

Following the accident, kind-hearted Christians and friends from Kyabugashe Archdeaconry under North Kigezi Diocese, as well as others in Kampala, willingly contributed funds, both small and large. The money was used to purchase a second-hand but newer-model Toyota RAV4 worth Shs 36 million, bearing registration number UA 650EY with digital number plates.

Speaking to Christians shortly after receiving the vehicle, the Kyabugashe Archdeaconry Head of Laity, Mr. Amos Mugisha, who also spearheaded the campaign, expressed gratitude. He appreciated Christians who willingly supported their Archdeacon with both large and small contributions following the accident.

He added that after the Archdeacon’s accident, they found that his vehicle had been damaged beyond repair. However, since they already had an ongoing project of constructing a new church, they decided to ask friends and willing Christians to contribute, and they responded positively.

Mr. Mugisha praised the kind-hearted Christians and Ven. Amos’s friends from Rukungiri and Kampala who contributed generously towards the purchase of the vehicle.

He clarified that the vehicle project is not part of the Kyabugashe Archdeaconry projects and was not included in the beginning-of-year plan. Instead, willing and compassionate Christians who were moved by the Archdeacon’s accident decided to support him privately in acquiring another vehicle.

He further noted that Archdeaconry branches were not directed to contribute to the project. The main project remains the construction of a new church, and it has neither been changed nor interfered with.

Meanwhile, the Archdeacon of Kyabugashe Archdeaconry, Ven. Amos Katushabe, speaking to Boona Radio, expressed excitement and joy. He praised Christians for the love and compassion they showed by contributing funds that enabled him to purchase the new vehicle after he and his son survived a serious accident, although neither was seriously injured.

He confirmed that Christians, led by the Archdeaconry Head of Laity, who chaired the campaign and committee, helped him reach out to friends and willing Christians, including those in Kampala who originate from Rukungiri District.

Ven. Amos said he personally travelled to Kampala, where some Christians helped him purchase the Shs 36 million Toyota RAV4. He said the vehicle is second-hand but a newer model and in good condition to help him carry out Archdeaconry duties and navigate the area’s terrain.

He appreciated every Christian who contributed financially and through prayers after the accident, especially those from Rukungiri District and those working in Kampala. He further confirmed that the project was an individual initiative and not an Archdeaconry project. He said the focus now remains on continuing with the church construction project as budgeted for the new year.
