Singer Irene Namatovu has shared one of the biggest challenges she has faced since marrying Geoffrey Lutaaya, revealing that their son was almost killed in the mix.

While the couple celebrates more than a decade of love, Namatovu revealed that she faced a lot of resistance, especially from people who didn’t want Lutaaya to marry her.

Namatovu noted that a week before her customary Kwanjula ceremony, a random boda man delivered chicken luwombo to her maid with instructions that it was for their son, Pius.

He alleged that Namatovu had sent it, but because Pius was very tired and sleepy from playing football, he refused to eat and just slept off.

“My maid told me that my son had refused to eat. Usually he always came back hungry from playing football and ate a lot. She told me that she had given him the luwombo I had sent but he refused to eat. I immediately called the father to ask him and everyone else that I expected to have brought it but they all said they didn’t bring it. I quickly ran home to find out more,” she said.

Little did they know that the luwombo was laced with poison. To confirm their fears, they put it outside overnight, but surprisingly, everything that tasted the luwombo was found lying dead the next morning.

“I swear to this as a catholic woman, and I’m not lying about it. It happened. God helped me so much because my son refused to eat it. This gave me so many feelings. I knew God works because my son didn’t even eat it despite his usual big appetite,” she said.

Even on the day of the introduction, Namatovu revealed that a lady was in the queue with intentions of disrupting the function. Fortunately, they reached her sooner and threw her out before she could cause serious damage. She went on to receive random strangers who would show up at her gate just to insult her.

“Those are the challenges I have faced in life that I will never forget. I tightened my security. People would just randomly come to my gate and abuse me. I do not know if people took advantage of me because I was quiet. Marriage is not easy and not for the weak-hearted,” she said.
