NWSC announces water supply interruptions in Greater Kampala as power maintenance continues
According to project officials, Lot 1 has reached 88 percent completion while Lot 2 stands at 94 percent, signaling steady progress toward the project’s scheduled completion in August 2026.
The National waterand Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has informed customer in several parts of Kampala that water supplyinterruptions will continue until July 29 and 30, 2026, due to scheduled power outages affecting its water installation sites.

In a public notice issued on Monday, NWSC said the interruptions are a result of electricity outages being conducted by the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to facilitate maintenance worksalong the Kampala North–Mutundwe transmission line.
NWSC management explained that the power maintenance exercise, which runs daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., is part of the ongoing Greater Kampala Metropolitan Transmission Systems Improvement Project, aimed at enhancing the reliability of electricity supply across Kampala and surrounding areas.
NWSC said the intermittent power outages have affected operations at some of its installations, leading to disruptions in water supply in several areas.
The e-water bill payments consists of payment options over the counter at partner banks, mobile money services, direct debit mandate, mobile banking options, fintechs like payway, ezee money, safe boda etc
The affected areas include Kawempe, Makerere, Namungoona, Kyebando, Nabweru, Kawanda, Kagoma, Lugoba and their surrounding neighbourhoods.
The corporation apologized for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience as the maintenance works continue.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and kindly request your understanding and patience during this period,” NWSC said.
The water utility added that it will continue monitoring the situation and provide further updates as necessary.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to store enough water for domestic use during the daily interruption period until the maintenance exercise is completed on July 31st
