Ghetto Kids Return to Hero’s Welcome Following Global World Cup Halftime Showcase
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has officially welcomed home the internationally acclaimed Ghetto Kids on Monday morning following their historic performance during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show in New Jersey, United States.
The Kampala-born dance troupe captivated millions of viewers across the globe after sharing the stage with global music icons Shakira and Burna Boy during one of the world’s most-watched sporting events. Their performance marked a significant milestone for Uganda’s creative industry, placing the country’s culture, dance, and youthful talent before an unprecedented international audience.
The official homecoming reception was aat the Arrivals Terminal of Entebbe International Airport as part of efforts to celebrate the troupe’s remarkable achievement and promote Uganda as a leading cultural and tourism destination.
According to UTB, the homecoming is intended not only to recognize the Ghetto Kids’ extraordinary accomplishment but also to reinforce Uganda’s image as the “Pearl of Africa” by showcasing the country’s vibrant creative sector and exceptional talent on the global stage.
The Ghetto Kids have become one of Uganda’s most recognizable cultural exports, inspiring audiences around the world through their energetic dance performances and their story of resilience and hope. Their latest appearance at the FIFA World Cup final is expected to further strengthen Uganda’s reputation as a source of world-class artistic talent.
