Former Kawempe South MP and 2026 presidential contender Mubaraka Munyagwa has shared candid relationship advice, urging couples not to treat marriage as a life sentence.

According to Munyagwa, people should only remain in a marriage for as long as it brings them happiness and fulfillment.

He believes that once love, joy, and excitement fade beyond repair, it is wiser for both partners to part ways peacefully rather than stay in a toxic relationship that could lead to hurting each other.

Marriage is not a prison. Last in it as long as it makes you feel happy. When you stop feeling happy in it, opt out. It’s always better to opt out before anyone hurts the other. That’s what I always advise those getting married.

He made the remarks while commenting on the recent engagement of Dr. Hajjat Kulthum Nabunya’s former husband, Acram Gumisiriza, to his new fiancée, Dease, in Canada, where he relocated in search of greener pastures.

Munyagwa noted that people should not be condemned for moving on after the end of a relationship, pointing out that both parties have the right to seek happiness elsewhere.

His comments come after Dr. Kulthum Nabunya publicly confirmed on social media that she had filed for divorce from Acram Gumisiriza.

The divorce was officially granted by the court in 2025, bringing their marriage to an end and allowing each of them to move on with their lives.

Shawa touches my heart because he cries a lot, while Chicken is strong and brilliant. I will support both of them in their boxing match.- Hon. Munyagwa SanyukaUnCut SanyukaUpdates FfeBannoDdala
