Veteran Kadongo Kamu singer Abdul Mulaasi says musicians of his generation built lasting careers by maintaining an air of mystery and limiting their public appearances.

Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Mulaasi said artists in the past deliberately protected their public image, allowing fans to see them mainly during performances and official events.

"Back then, people could go months without seeing us. Even when we went to restaurants or events, we made sure fans rarely caught a glimpse of us. That mystery made people value us," Mulaasi said.

According to the singer, today's artists have become too accessible through social media platforms such as TikTok and frequent public appearances, a trend he believes has reduced the excitement surrounding their brands.

Mulaasi argued that scarcity helped build anticipation and strengthened the connection fans had with musicians during his era.

The veteran singer also dismissed claims that his music career had faded, insisting that he remains active and influential.

"They say the farm has collapsed, but I am the farm," he added.
