Kapeke Claims Jowy Landa Is Not A Big Artist, Names Uganda’s New Generation Heavyweights

Musician Kapeke has stirred debate after claiming that fellow artist Jowy Landa is not a big artist, questioning whether she could draw large crowds in some of Uganda’s upcountry areas.

Speaking in a recent interview on Galaxy TV, Kapeke argued that he and fellow musician Vyroota are among the only “big artists” in Uganda’s new generation because of their ability to attract fans even in remote parts of the country.

“The only big artists in the new generation are myself and Vyroota because when I go deep in the villages to perform for my fans, I find him there too,” he said, noting that reaching some of these areas can require a nine-hour drive, which he believes demonstrates the level of demand for their music.

Kapeke, however, clarified that he has no personal problem with Jowy Landa. He also dismissed her recent comments suggesting that the quality of music has declined and that hit songs have become scarce.

“If music isn’t going as planned for you, why do you have to think it’s the same for everyone else?” he questioned.

The singer further said Jowy Landa’s assessment does not reflect his own experience, claiming that he remains consistently booked and busy every week.
