Ragga Dee Reveals His Funeral Wishes, Wants Mourners to Focus on His Legacy, Not Politics

Veteran singer Ragga Dee has opened up about how he would like to be remembered and celebrated, including the specific group of people that he didn’t want present at his send-off.

Ragga Dee was among the group of artists that graced the National Theatre in celebration of the late Ugandan playwright, actor, instrumentalist, and author Alex Mukulu.

Speaking in an interview, the singer expressed his frustration and disappointment with a member of parliament who he said started spreading propaganda at Alex’s funeral.

He alleged that the politician claimed that the government would not be celebrating Alex’s life, despite how much he has contributed to the creative sector.

For this reason, Ragga Dee made it clear that he didn’t want any politicians to attend his funeral or make political speeches to the mourners. He revealed that many politicians turned the sad moment to pass their agendas instead of mourning with the bereaved.

“When I die, I do not want politicians to speak at my burial. I saw politicians on Alex’s death saying that the government wouldn’t help him and many other things. I booked this place the day we held the first meeting for the burial arrangements. This is a government premise. You do not have to be a government person to be brought here but a Ugandan. Politicians should not try this on my burial,” he said.

When asked how he would love to be celebrated, Ragga Dee revealed he preferred to have mourners come to his funeral/ vigil and speak about the good things they knew about him and what he had done.

“I would like a good send-off with people not just praising me but they speak about the good things I have done because they see it. Politicians should just come and speak about things relating to my death but not politics,” he said.
