Tottenham Hotspur ‘preparing’ bid for “amazing” France international
Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs this summer, spending heavily to strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s squad across several areas of the pitch.
However, the striker position has not received the same attention.
With Dominic Solanke and Richarlison currently the main senior options, Spurs could still use another proven goalscorer.
They now appear ready to make a move for a forward who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s more reliable attackers.
Spurs Preparing Mateta Bid
Tottenham are preparing a bid for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to Football Insider, as they look to add more firepower to their attack.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed an impressive spell at Selhurst Park, playing a key role in Palace’s FA Cup and Conference League triumphs while also earning a place in France’s World Cup squad.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown claims Spurs are among the clubs monitoring Mateta and see him as a potential upgrade on Solanke.
His situation is particularly interesting because Mateta has entered the final year of his Palace contract and has rejected several attempts to extend his stay.
Palace remain reluctant to lose their striker, but a sizeable offer from Tottenham could force the Eagles to reconsider their position.
Former Palace boss Oliver Glasner previously described Mateta as “amazing”, and Spurs now appear ready to test whether they can bring that quality to north London.
