Tamale Mirundi Junior Disowned by His Clan Over Buganda Kingdom Apology

Tamale Mirundi Junior Disowned by His Clan Over Buganda Kingdom Apology

Tamale Mirundi Junior, son of the late controversial political analyst Tamale Mirundi, has been disowned by his clan following a fallout over a family decision to apologize to the Buganda Kingdom.

The apology stems from a rift that began during the lifetime of his father, who had publicly criticized the Kingdom and the Katikkiro for reasons known only to him.

Before his passing, Tamale Mirundi had waged a vocal war against the Buganda Kingdom, creating a divide between him and the monarch.

However, midway through the ceremony, the Mirundi family extended an olive branch, expressing sincere apologies and requesting a meeting with the Katikiro (Buganda Prime Minister) to make amends. Their plea was granted on September 25th, 2024, when the family met with the Katikiro at Bulange in Mengo.

During the meeting, the Katikiro, speaking on behalf of the Kabaka (King of Buganda), accepted the family’s apology and urged Ugandans to refrain from using social media as a platform to attack one another.

However, Tamale Mirundi Junior did not share his family’s sentiment. He publicly refused to apologize to the Buganda Kingdom, vowing to stand by his father’s stance.

He criticized those advising the family to seek reconciliation and rejected any form of apology to the Kingdom.

Over the weekend, the conflict escalated when Junior was summoned to a clan meeting. Elders attempted to advise him, but his defiant attitude and refusal to show remorse angered them. After a heated exchange, the clan elders made a firm decision to disown him, and Junior was ejected from the meeting.
