Sironko Woman Clobbers Charcoal Seller to Death over Shs4000 Debt

Sironko Police has launched investigations into the death of a 65-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted to death by a 21-year-old female adult.
The incident occurred on Saturday 22nd August 2026 at around 1900hrs at Buyola Village, Buyola Parish, Buyobo Sub- County, Sironko District.
The Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, SP Rogers Taitika said the deceased is Busima Moses,65 a resident of Buyola Village, Buyola Parish, Buyobo Sub- County, Sironko District and the suspect is Nafuna Merriam 21 a resident of the same village currently in custody.
It is alleged that on Friday 21st August 2026, the deceased sold charcoal to the suspect at UGX 8,000. The suspect paid UGX 4,000 and remained with a balance of UGX 4,000, which was supposed to be cleared on 22/08/2026.
However, when the deceased went to demand his balance of UGX 4,000, the suspect allegedly told him she had no money and threw the charcoal back at him.
As the deceased was picking the charcoal, the suspect allegedly picked a hoe handle and hit him on the head. He fell down and died instantly.
SP Taitika said the suspect was arrested by the community and handed over to Buyobo Police and statements recorded while the Body was retrieved and conveyed to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem.
Police condemned the action, and urged the community to always resolve disputes peacefully and report to relevant authorities for assistance.
